Creatinine Reagents – Vanguard Diagnostics
Product Overview
Vanguard’s Creatinine Reagents are designed for the quantitative determination of creatinine in human serum or plasma. The assay is based on the kinetic modified Jaffé method, and is suitable for use on fully automated, open-system chemistry analysers. Each kit contains 2 × 100 mL of ready-to-use reagents.
Intended Use
For in vitro diagnostic use. This test quantitatively measures creatinine concentrations in serum or plasma samples using a colourimetric method at wavelengths of 520 nm and 620 nm. Refer to the official IFU for the complete procedure and quality control guidance.
Why It Matters
Serum creatinine is a critical biomarker used to evaluate kidney function and diagnose renal disorders. According to the NHS guide on kidney function tests, elevated creatinine levels may indicate impaired kidney filtration and require further clinical investigation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What method is used in this test?
The assay is based on the kinetic modified Jaffé method, in which creatinine reacts with alkaline picrate to form a coloured complex, measured photometrically.
Which sample types are accepted?
Use serum or plasma only. Avoid haemolysed or lipemic samples for best results.
Is the reagent compatible with all analysers?
Yes, it is suitable for most open-system, photometric chemistry analysers.
What is the measuring range of the assay?
Approximately 0.2 to 15 mg/dL, depending on the analyser used.
How long do the reagents remain stable after opening?
Once opened, the reagents are stable for 28 days when stored between 2–8 °C and handled according to the IFU.
