HBsAg ELISA Kit – Qualitative Detection of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
The HBsAg ELISA by Vanguard Diagnostics is a microwell-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay designed for the qualitative detection of Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in human serum or plasma. It enables early diagnosis of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, supporting timely treatment decisions and blood donor screening.
This assay uses monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies in a sandwich ELISA format, ensuring high specificity and sensitivity for the HBsAg antigen.
Key Features
- Detection of HBsAg in serum or plasma
- Monoclonal + polyclonal antibody sandwich ELISA format
- Ready-to-use reagents with colour-coded components
- Suitable for manual or automated ELISA processors
- Controls and calibrator included for validation
- Clear colour development read at 450/630 nm
Intended Use
This test is intended for in vitro diagnostic use to detect Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in human serum or plasma. It aids in identifying acute or chronic HBV infections and is suitable for screening blood donors, clinical diagnostics, and epidemiological studies.
Test Principle
- The microwells are pre-coated with anti-HBsAg antibodies.
- Samples and controls are added; HBsAg (if present) binds to these antibodies.
- Enzyme-conjugated secondary antibodies then bind to the complex.
- After washing, TMB substrate is added; a blue colour forms in positive wells.
- The reaction is stopped and read spectrophotometrically at 450/630 nm.

FAQs About HBsAg ELISA
What is HBsAg and why is it important?
HBsAg (Hepatitis B surface antigen) is a key marker used to detect current Hepatitis B infection. Its presence in blood indicates that a person is infectious.
What type of sample is required for this test?
The HBsAg ELISA test uses human serum or plasma.
How accurate is the HBsAg ELISA kit?
This kit uses a sandwich ELISA method with high specificity and sensitivity. Proper handling and adherence to the IFU ensures accurate results.
Can this ELISA kit be used for blood donor screening?
Yes. It is suitable for clinical diagnosis and donor screening to prevent transmission of HBV.
What is the shelf life of the HBsAg ELISA kit?
The kit has a 12-month shelf life when stored at 2–8°C.
